New Nillumbik Youth Hub Open And Ready For Use

Young people in north east Melbourne will be able to access important services and build social connections at Nillumbik Youth Hub, delivered with the support of the Allan Labor Government.

Minister for Youth Natalie Suleyman officially opened Nillumbik Youth Hub in Diamond Creek today and celebrated the completion of a new space for youth in the area.

The Labor Government contributed $300,000 in partnership with Nillumbik Shire Council and the Albanese Labor Government Local Roads and Infrastructure Program to transform the facility into a vibrant new space for local youth.

Nillumbik Youth Hub is a place for young people to meet new friends, find a quiet spot to study, play free games and access youth programs and services – helping local youth with important areas of life including mental health and wellbeing, education, financial wellbeing, employment and training and social connection.

The Youth Hub venue will also be available to hire for youth focused events, programs and services in the area.

The welcoming and inclusive standalone hub features a new kitchen and flooring, large multi-purpose room and smaller program rooms, an office space, private consulting rooms and a new covered outdoor area with an amphitheater, yarning circle and new landscaping.

It has been co-designed with local young people aged 15 to 25 who will continue to consult on and oversee operation of the Hub and its services.

Youth Hubs across the state offer drop-in programs and activities and events for young people, are an entry point for information and referrals to a range of youth services, and help young people build networks and connections.

Funding for the Nillumbik Youth Hub is part of the support the Labor Government is providing through the $1 million Youth Hub Grants Program for construction of Youth Hubs in outer Melbourne locations and Geelong.
